Rally and March for Life
at 1:00 p.m. The Rally will be at Nash Square followed by the March
ending with refreshments at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Mother-Daughter to be featured
Lynda Bell is the Vice Mayor of the City of Homestead, Fl. Elected in
2003, she beat the 30 year incumbent with 65% of the vote, and won a
four year term with the most votes cast. Lynda is extremely active in
her community, and is a member of the local Republican Party, as well as
the Delegate from the State of Florida to the National Right to Life
Board (last 10 years).
Lynda is the Past President of Florida Right to Life (4 years,
1997-2001) and the Past Political Action (PAC) Chair for FRTL. She
served as Director of Media Relations (Spokesperson) for FRTL
(1997-current)
Lynda has appeared on MSNBC, Court TV, CNN, multiple radio and TV
stations across the country debating Right to Life issues. She has
debated the issues of Euthanasia, The Choose Life License Plate,
Parental Notification for Abortion, Partial Birth Abortion, and
Embryonic Stem Cell research, in addition to other pro-life issues.
Additionally, Lynda has been the key-note speaker for many banquets,
meetings, breakfasts, etc. Lynda lives with her husband Mark in
Homestead and they have three daughters and five grandchildren with one
on the way.
Kristi Bell, a 17 year old student at Miami Dade College in Homestead
Florida majoring in Education, is the youngest of three daughters of
Lynda and Mark Bell. She is an accomplished singer who has performed in
2 musicals at The Actors Playhouse in Coral Gables, Florida, has sung
the National Anthem numerous times for various community events, and in
2004 performed in Washington, DC, for the National Right to Life Prayer
Breakfast which was featured on C-Span. In 2004, Kristi won the Florida
Right to Life Oratory Contest, and later took Second place in the
National Right to Life Oratory contest, with a heart wrenching speech
about her Aunt Mary who has Downs Syndrome. During her speech there was
not a dry eye in the house!
Also,
Bishop Peter J. Jugis, the bishop of the Diocese of Charlotte, will give
the Invocation in conjunction with his remarks about the reason for our
gathering. On August 1, 2003, the Holy Father appointed the Most
Reverend Peter Joseph Jugis, Judicial Vicar and Pastor of Our Lady of
Lourdes in Monroe, as the fourth Bishop of Charlotte.
And,
Janelle Lilley, the 2004 winner of the North Carolina Oratory Contest,
will give her winning speech.

All youth groups in the state are encouraged to come stand up for life
by carrying a banner identifying the group they are representing and
carrying signs that they have made. There will be parking available to
buses across the street from Nash Square.
Youth leaders should plan to contact the NCRTL State headquarters
800-392-6275 prior to attending the event to let us know the name of the
youth group, the number of students making ups the group, and the city
