2008 Annual Rally and March for Life
Speakers
Ashley Ahlquist

Ashley Ahlquist was born and raised in Bloomington, Minnesota. She is the second oldest of 6 children. Presently, she is a senior at the Catholic University of America, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Spanish.  She interned with the Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life in Minneapolis the summer of 2006 and then with the National Right to Life Committee in Washington DC the summer of 2007. She was a finalist in the Miss District of Columbia Pageant for Miss America this past summer with a pro-life platform, Providing Positive Solutions for Crisis Pregnancies, (which caused a bit of controversy) but did not place. She has also both attended and volunteered at the March for Life in Washington DC for the past 3 years.  (For G. K. Chesterton enthusiasts, it is noteworthy that Ashley is the daughter of Dale Ahlquist, the President of the American Chesterton Society and the host of G. K. Chesterton, the Apostle of Common Sense, aired on EWTN on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. EST.)

Rally Master of Ceremonies

Verne Hill

Verne Hill, 1989 Graduate from Appalachian State University, started as a part-timer with WBFJ Radio in December 2000. He assumed the ‘WBFJ News Desk’ in 2002 and has been getting up at the ‘crack of dawn’ ever since! At WBFJ Radio, he has been on Contemporary Christian FM and on WBFJ ‘Family Friendly’ Morning Show. He has also served as News / Public Affairs Director for WBFJ.

He feels he has a dream job, being part of the WBFJ Family Friendly Morning Show… where he keeps listeners informed and shares Jesus to his community (and the world) in every aspect of his job.

Before coming to WBFJ, he had extensive work in both audio and video as a local cable insert advertising editor, producer and on-screen talent, on the air part-time with WMAG, as an A/V Technician with Long Communications in Winston-Salem, and on site marketing for Chevrolet through Southern Living Magazine.

His wife Paula and he live in Midway, NC with their two daughters.
